City Limit has been together since 2016, adding keyboardist Neil Gillespie in 2017 and bassist Darryl Dardar in 2019. We are a regional band playing in mostly East Tennessee and surrounding states. We play a mixture of about 50% Classic Rock and Bob Seger style Rock & Roll (much from the 80's), 20% R&B, 20% Soul and 10% contemporary hits like Uptown Funk and Locked out of Heaven by Bruno Mars.
|Neil Gillespie||Neil Gillespie, Keyboards & Backing Vocals Neil is City Limit’s 2-handed secret weapon. Well versed in Jazz, Rock, Funk, Soul, Blues and R&B, Neil produces a kaleidoscope of sounds from his array of electronic keyboards. From soulful Hammond B3 sounds and slick piano to searing synths, soothing strings, crisp horn sections and special effects, audiences hear what he’s doing but don’t expect it’s coming from the keyboards. Overdubs on a click track? Not for Neil. He does it all live. Horns or strings simultaneously with piano or clavinet? Not a problem. Neil grew up just outside New York City in West Hempstead, NY, learning classical piano from age 6 around New York City, where he won classical competitions at age 12 and played in his first Rock band “Bandersnatch” at 14. He attended the University of Notre Dame majoring in Business administration, later gain...||View Profile|

|Darryl Dardar||Bassist Darryl Dardar has played with some monster bands out of Georgia and now City Limit is privileged to add his funky, punchy, and powerful bass to our sound. Darryl’s superpower is “groove”. He locks in the beat with the drummer to create the “Dance Groove” City Limit fans love. Just listen to his work on "KIss", Uptown Funk and "Get Down Tonight". No slave to the root note, Darryl moves up and down the scale to create harmonic in addition to rhythmic motion. He uses picking position and strength to create a variety of sounds from his rig. One listen to the funky, punchy yet powerful sound he has and you'll agree. City Limit is blessed to have "Double D". Darryl grew up in a musical family, playing gospel, country, and anything else he could learn from family and friends at age 9. His biggest influences were his Dad, a jazz guitarist in the 40’s and...||View Profile|
